Xbox 360 “next gen” to get Blu-Ray this year?

According to Pure Overclock, Lite-on are currently developing a built-in BD-ROM drive for the next generation of Xbox 360 consoles, for shipping from the middle of this year onwards.
Microsoft have consistently denied reports that they were planning a Blu-Ray drive, but this is pretty much business as usual with them. Lite-On have refused to comment, citing “client confidentiality,” and there is nothing on their website about it.
If the report is true, it means that there’s a new console in the works, with a new 170 watt power supply instead of the current 210 watt – which might help on the cooling front.
Meanwhile, Xbox Live users with HD DVD will be offered an upgrade next time they are watching a movie on HD DVD and logged in. This is billed as the last upgrade, though given Microsoft’s past history it may just be the first of many “last” updates.
