Xbox sales were up strongly in November, pushing PS3 into third place, although the Wii remains unassailable. Source

The surge in sales was fueled by a couple of exclusives including Gears of War 2, which hit 3 million sales in the first 4 weeks on sale. Some are saying it might even exceed Halo 3, which sold 8 million in 12 weeks. It’d need to keep the sales going at the same rate for the next 8 weeks – and how likely is that? It’s looking good for Xbox 360 Game of the Year 2008, though. Source

Meanwhile, Halo Wars‘ release date has been pushed back to March 3, Europe, Middle East and Africa get it on February 27 and Japan and the rest of Asia on February 26. How about a short break in Europe this Spring? :) ) Source

A new release that looks very interesting, definitely different at the very least, is Mirror’s Edge
from Electronic Arts. Set in a dystopian vision of the near future, the plot centers around a mayoral election in some nameless city, in which the opposition candidate is murdered, and the crime pinned on an innocent (of course). Your job is to prove it. There are a couple of videos, the first is just an ad, but worth a watch:

The second is all in-game footage, and not suitable for anyone with a fear of heights. Anyway, you’ll find it on Paste Magazine. Go take a look while I go and lie down for a bit.
